ゴッホの作品を目的に訪れたロダン美術館で出会った、オーギュスト・ロダンの彫刻「LA CATHEDRALE」から着想を得たニット。

寄り添う二つの右手によって生まれる彫刻的な立体感を、縮率の異なる2種類のウールを用いた編みの技法によって表現しています。

手や土台となる石の部分には、お湯を通すことで縮み、立体的に盛り上がるウールを使用。
一方、背景には縮みにくいウールを用いることでフラットな表情を残し、一枚のニットの中に彫刻のような凹凸と奥行きを生み出しています。

伝統的なニットの技法と、ロダンの彫刻から受けた感覚を結びつけ、平面的な編み地を立体的な作品へと昇華したKota Gushikenならではの一着。

A knit piece inspired by Auguste Rodin's sculpture “LA CATHEDRALE,” encountered at the Rodin Museum during a visit originally made to see works by Vincent van Gogh.

The sculptural three-dimensionality created by two right hands gently leaning toward one another is expressed through a knitting technique using two types of wool with different shrinkage rates.

The hands and stone base are knitted with wool that shrinks when exposed to hot water, causing those areas to rise and become more dimensional.
In contrast, the background is made with wool that resists shrinkage, preserving a flatter surface and creating sculptural depth and texture within a single knit.

By combining a traditional knitting technique with the impression left by Rodin's sculpture, Kota Gushiken transforms a flat knitted surface into a distinctly three-dimensional piece.
